survival knivesI am very intrigued just like millions of others with spectacular stories of survival from people who faced death, kept a level head and saw another day. I remember a semi recent story in the news about a man who was confronted by a cougar and managed to escape with his life because of survival knives skills learned in the military. People like Aron Ralston who became a national symbol of survival after getting stuck under a fallen boulder while rock climbing come to mind as well. In 2003, he escaped by amputating his own arm and trekking back to civilization. His story is tragic, amazing, documented and shows the most extreme use of survival knives I have ever heard of.

Survival knives are a key component to many of the stories we hear from people lost in the bush, jungle, hiking or at sea. Many of them turn to survival knives to create shelter, catch food and in the case Aron Ralston, free himself to survive. I find it very inspiring to hear stories like this which hammer home the point of never going out into the wild without survival knives. There are so many purposes for a device humans have crafted since the beginning of time.
