survival knivesThe most important things that we always take camping are survival knives. These can make the difference between having a great time camping or being challenged to get through the camping trip and having a good time. According to experts, the best survival knives are smaller knives with double cutting edges. These will cut most materials and can be sharpened in the outdoors using a sharpening stone. We would not think of leaving home without our survival knives as part of the essntial camping gear. We have a checklist that we go through, and the knives are at the top of the list. We can use them for cutting lots of different mateials, including branches to use for firewood kindling or removing stingers from bees. Thankfully, we have never had to use survival knives for any kind of emergency but the latter and stripping bark from branches to roast marshmallows. But one never knows when something drastic will happen, and that survival knife will make the difference between comfort or challenge. Sometimes if we go fishing, we'll use the knives for cleaning the fish if we are lucky enough to catch something. It's nice to know we have ways to easily harvest our own food in the wild with our survival knives, too.
