My mom and step-dad are really into hunting. They do several hunting trips every year. So for my mom hunting knives are not something to collect but a much needed tool. She judges hunting knives not on how they look, but how they function. Over the years my mom has tried many hunting knives. Now she pretty much sticks with her favorites. I know that if she loses or damages a hunting knife she is going to try and replace it with the same one if she can. No more experimenting and testing new knives, she likes what she has. My step-dad on the other hand is always on the lookout for a new flashy hunting knife. He likes having something that not only gets the job done but also looks nice. He has a collection of different knives, most of which he has used once or twice. Some though are strictly for looking at. The pride of his collection are ones my mother has given him over the years. They usually don’t make it out on hunting trips but live in his display case.
